FREDDY'S FREAKIN' WEEKEND
It's Friday evening and I'm at home working on art when I get a text from a friend. He wants me to cover his DJ set at Bodega Wine Bar. As soon as I confirmed the set time I packed my gear & threw my buddy Freddy Murphy in the mix. Let the Bday festivities roll. Oh yeah, it's his bday weekend.
Whoop! We both had amazing sets and still had tons of energy. Fred still wants to party but somewhere along the lines of Palm Springs. With a little convincing I talked him into heading to Vegas for a turn around. This would end up being the best 72 hrs we'd had in a long ass time.
On the way home to drop off equipment I convinced our friend Xavier at 3:30 am that it was an awesome idea to join us on our road trip. Picked him up & the party began.
It was non-stop from the time we got there till the time we left. Ok I lie, we booked a room at Hooters to sleep for 3 hrs. After our quick nap we met up with my favorite person in Vegas, Vtech. She had just finished spinning at Encore Beach club and was ready to show us the best time of our lives.
Fred has a gig in Hollywood at Bronson Bar at 10pm & Xavier has to be in Huntinton Beach for a bday by 9:30. We head back to California and the Prius runs out of gas 5 miles past Baker. Luckily for us we were uphill & used the downhill momentum to get us 10 ft in front of the pump with out having to push the car.
I dropped Xavier off in Montclair, dropped Fred off in Hollywood, and then drove to Bodega in Pasadena to meet up with a girl friend for drinks.
End of the night came, or so I thought. I left Bodega to go pick up Fred, who decided that the night wasn't over. He didn't want to go home so he booked a room at The Standard.
Finally, we're heading home. Before leaving Hollywood we stop by one of Fred's favorite places, Stout, for a burger and beers. This place was delicious & they had a great craft beer selection.
Speaking of craft beers, our friend hits us up on our way back to Covina to join him on his brewery adventure. Guh, I just wanna sleep but can't ever say no. It's a major problem.
Instead of going home we head to Pomona where we meet up with A.plus and Alex. From there we head to OC's finest brewers for some fresh brews. First stop was Bottle Logic, then Noble Ale Brewery, then the final stop was the Anaheim Packing District.
While wandering around and soaking up all there was to offer, Adrian & Alex made reservations at a speak easy hidden behind barrels of saki. Hands down the best mixology ever! We had about 3 cocktails. Or was it 2? By this time I was hammered.
